I'm basing this off of a Devo from Chad Eastham in Inside Out: Our Stories, Our Faith in 40 Devotions, called "Who's Who and Whose"
I have great news! You get to decide who you want in your life. Sure there will be some who you don't have much of a say in, like your family, your pets, etc. But for the most part, you do!
Maybe you're one of those people who are always trying to impress someone else. Well forget about trying to figure out what they want out of you and figure out who you are and who you want to be. When you like yourself and you have confidence in yourself other people will see that and they will be attracted to you too.
Now don't go out and about saying "I'm so awesome!" or "Don't I look great today?" I'm not talking about being stuck up and conceited. I'm telling you to know your worth because you know who created you! And God never makes mistakes! We are all beautiful, unique and God has a special purpose for each of our lives.
"When you know both who you are and whose you are, it shows in your life. And that confidence, that attitude, becomes a strong, positive magnet that attracts others to you. It's what makes you lovable. That's how you get to decide who's in your life and how you're treated." - Chad Eastham
If you think that you aren't that great and that you aren't very important, other people will begin to develop that attitude about you too. If you show in your life that you know you're amazing because you are God's creation, that you are a treasure, other people will love that about you and want to be with you.
"Your job is to make sure you're treated in a way that's respectful to you and to your Creator." - Chad Eastham
Psalm 139:13-14
You made my whole being; you formed me in my mother's body. I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.
Here's the prayer at the end of the devotion:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving me. Thank you for creating me. Help me learn to love and appreciate the unique person you made me to be. And please forgive me when I fail to recognize all that is amazing and wonderful in me. Thank you for the gift of life. Help me to use it to honor you.
In Christ's name I pray.
Amen"
Journal:
"Think about the qualities God created in you that make you uniquely you. List them and describe how you're currently using them--and how you might use them more effectively--to live your life for Him."
"What we are is God's gift to us. What we become is our gift to God." - Eleanor Powell
Another note: "See yourself the way God sees you. Don't depend on friends or family to set your value; God has already done that. Let His love shine through your life...and into others."
I hope you liked my first blog. I will be basing my blogs off of Inside Out: Our Stories, Our Faith in 40 Devotions from the Revolve Tour for a while. They all come with Journals and Prayers which I will quote along with any other parts in the book which I think are too good to try to explain myself. Tell me what you think! I would love to hear your thoughts!
